I had a wonderful lunch with my daughter today, then we shopped around the beautiful downtown area of Franklin. Shop local - the shopkeepers are very nice. In spite of everything, I didn't find a thing I needed or wanted. It's a good thing to be without need or want!
Psalm 95
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud
to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with
music and song.
For the Lord is the great God,
the great King
above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain
peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands
formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel
before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God
and we are the
people of his pasture,
the flock under
his care.
Today, if only you would hear his voice,
“Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,
as you did that
day at Massah in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me,
though they had seen what I did.
For forty years I was
angry with that generation;
I said, ‘They are
a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not
known my ways.’
So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never
enter my rest.’”
Psalm 141
I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me;
hear me when I
call to you.
May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up
of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
Set a guard over my mouth, Lord;
keep watch over
the door of my lips.
Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil
so that I take
part in wicked deeds
along with those who are evildoers;
do not let me eat
their delicacies.
Psalm 146
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise
to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings,
who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day
their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in
the Lord their God.
He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and
everything in them—
he remains
faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to
the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
the Lord gives
sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the
righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the
fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates
the ways of the wicked.
The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion,
for all generations.
Praise the Lord.
